this heavenly little triplet of songs has been very dear to me for years now, as are many many other bulldog eyes pieces. oddly, only today have I listened to the cat be damned side. The split was deleted off bandcamp so I didn't know where to look for a while... i like his side, hearing it now. but I'm here to talk about the BullDog Eyes side.....
the track usay is especially impactful to me. this was my ex's favorite bulldog eyes song .. there used to be a really good animation of this song on youtube but georgie once decided to scrub all other postings of their work on youtube because they wanted people supporting their music directly instead of ripping it from furry yt videos. which makes sense, but huge r.i.p. to all the really really pretty videos people made to bge music . but usay is such an emotional song to me. i don't even want to go into it all just imagine it ok... very impactful very emotional.
the mbv cover is so so pretty . georgies voice is so soft and pillowy and it fits so perfectly. I've been listening to theoriginal song a lot lately and it's such a beautiful thing to be able to reexperience old favorites this way. I'm not the biggest fan of mbv but I like this song because of bde. it's this same way I found built to spill.. I think georgie is a crazy talented musical artist and lyricist. if I remember correctly I believe I commented on one of their songs complimenting their writing and they replied saying they had wanted to be a poet when they were a child.
my god I love bulldog eyes. I could go on forever but honestly it's taken me like an hour to write just this to figure out the coding for this + I did so much digging for fun. I found the cat be damned half of the split and I found the usay animation that got taken down that I mentioned earlier. beware though because it took like 10 full minutes to load that video.. -_- wayback machine is so slow. but I'm so grateful for it... and here's a link of more bde archived songs. I'm linking these all here more for myself than anything. so many internet treasures lost to dead computers or the general degradation of the web...
